Derek Gehl was a pioneer in the development of the internet marketing training industry, helping to build the world’s largest internet marketing training company, the Internet Marketing Center, where he served as the CEO before stepping away from the company in 2008. He has since built several 7-figure online businesses in various niches from the comfort of his home office. In this interview, Derek talks about why he thinks an information marketing business is the best type of online business to create, how he runs his business on a daily basis, and some valuable lessons he has learned from his experiences as an entrepreneur.
Shortly after discovering the internet in 1996, Derek Gehl dropped out of college to pursue a career in internet marketing. He started working with the late Corey Rudl in 1998, and together they built an internet marketing training company called Internet Marketing Center (IMC). Derek worked as the COO of IMC before becoming the CEO of the company in 2005. Under his leadership, the company grew to over 100 employees with offices in Vancouver, BC and Austin, Texas, with revenues of $30,000,000 per year. Derek stepped away from the IMC in 2008, and has since built several 7-figure online businesses from the comfort of his home.
Over the course of his career, Derek has pioneered numerous internet marketing technologies, authored and produced numerous best-selling internet marketing courses and training systems, and has hosted, keynoted, or spoken at over 100 conferences around the world.
