Marketing your products and services on the internet can be one of the most effective and lucrative ways to generate sales for your business, if you do it properly. Over time, the tactics you use will change, but as is true of anything, there are unchanging fundamental principles that will enable you to succeed regardless of which tactics you implement.
In order to market your products or services on the internet successfully, you must learn the fundamental success principles that enable entrepreneurs to succeed online. These fundamentals will be the foundation upon which you build a profitable and a sustainable online business.
Here are the 7 success principles of internet marketing:
Think like an entrepreneur. Entrepreneurs are not paid for their time. They’re paid for the value they bring to the marketplace. It takes time to create products and services and set up systems to deliver value, but once you do, you’ll be in a position to start generating revenue. Internet marketing is no different. As a marketer, you are not paid for the time you spend creating various marketing campaigns, you are paid for the results your campaigns produce. If you don’t produce results, you don’t make money.
Find a market that is hungry for a product or service and give them what they want. Succeeding as an entrepreneur and as a marketer requires a combination of offering the right product, crafting the right message, and getting that message in front of the right audience. If your marketing campaigns aren’t bringing you a positive return on investment, you may have missed the mark on some, if not all, of these components.
Traffic is the measure of people visiting your website or sales page. If no one sees what you’re offering, you won’t get any customers. Like a retail store in a busy mall or in the downtown core of a big city, you want lots of people passing by your store. Your website is your store. You want high traffic (lots of people visiting your website), you want consistent traffic (consistency helps with forecasting revenue), and you want targeted traffic (visitors who are in your target market).
Many people believe that marketers with the biggest email lists make the most money. This is not necessarily true. The size of your list is not as important as the relationship you build with your list. Make sure you have a system in place that converts your website visitors into email subscribers. Then, give your subscribers a ton of value that helps them solve their problem. This helps you to earn their trust over time. When they trust you, they will buy from you. Your relationship with your subscribers is more important than the number of subscribers you have.
Make sure all of your marketing and communication with your audience has the same message. If your message constantly changes, or is not consistent across all of the different platforms you use to market your business (website, email, social media, etc.), you will confuse your audience. Confused people don’t buy.
Learn how to protect your time. Whether you are a full-time entrepreneur or you’re building your business on the side, you must learn to be productive with your time in order to succeed. More specifically, you should be spending the majority of your time on income producing activities. Always be asking “What am I doing to grow my business?” Spend the majority of your time on activities that yield the greatest return on investment (emailing your list, product creation, etc.). Delegate all the activities that are necessary but do not have a direct correlation on your income (customer service, graphic design, etc.). Virtual assistants are fantastic for delegating many of the essential but non-income producing activities of your business.
The most successful marketers track everything. They know how many people see their ads. They know how many people click on their ads. They know how many people visit their website. They know how many people join their email list. And they especially know how many sales their business makes. When you know all these numbers, making money becomes a science. Track everything and know your conversion rates. This way, you know exactly what return on investment your marketing dollars will bring you. Incremental improvements to your conversion rates can yield significant increases to your bottom line. The 7 Success Principles Of Internet Marketing #lifestylebusiness #internetmarketing @TylerBasu Click To Tweet
